Lucy Wang
From AAA Wiki
Lucy Wang is from Fort Lee, New Jersey, a town conveniently across the bridge from the City. Currently a freshman in the Columbia College class of 2013, she is on the pre-med track and is considering majoring in political science or philosophy. As a member of AAA, Lucy hopes to work on strengthening Asian-Americans’ roles in politics, and on campus, defying the stereotype commonly associated with Asian-Americans (as so sadly portrayed by the “asian party” in “Harold and Kumar”).
As a student of Fort Lee High School, Lucy conducted research for two summers at the Columbia University Medical Center, searching for the molecular backup system that would support kidney development. For her research, she was named an Intel Science Talent Search 2009 Semi-Finalist. She also enjoys writing, and was awarded a Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Gold Key for her personal essay titled “Growing Up Without a God.” In High School, Lucy was the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, co-founder of the Philosophy Club, a class president, 4-year member of the Varsity Debate Team, and a school orchestra violinist.
Lucy once made her own retro-funk clothing line named “Coo’ Foo’.” Though the line is discontinued, she still enjoys making clothes and accessories. Two summers ago, she won a beginner’s Salsa competition while partnered with her schoolmate’s father. She plays guitar, and is a self-proclaimed “bro.” In her spare time, she would jam with her amateur, new wave “band”, and rehearse the Single Ladies dance. Also, she’s blinded with science!
